Description
Goðafoss is one of Iceland’s most spectacular waterfalls. The grandeur and mist that comes off these falls makes it quite difficult to photograph well, as water quickly builds up on any lens pointing at it in the lower reaches of the falls. Goðafoss translated means ‘waterfall of the gods’ and legend has it that Þorgeir threw idols of the norse gods into the falls after declaring Iceland’s official religion as Christianity.
